Activate Your NetID
Your first step is to activate your Rutgers NetID to access many of the electronic services available to you at Rutgers. Next, enroll in a two-step login with Duo. To protect Rutgers’ data and information security, the university will require all students to use a two-step login with Duo to access most services and tools requiring a NetID login.
Accept Your Offer
Ready to say “Yes” to Rutgers! Tell us by accepting your offer of admission and paying your $150 enrollment fee through your Rutgers Application Portal. Within 2-3 business days of paying the enrollment fee, access your myRutgers Dashboard to learn more about the next steps, such as course registration, housing and dining, financial aid, billing, final transcripts, new student orientation, and more.

Accept Your Admission

Accept our offer of admission in the Rutgers Application Portal, pay your $150 enrollment fee, and view all required steps for a newly admitted Rutgers–Newark student at go.rutgers.edu/portal.

Activate your Rutgers NetID at netid.rutgers.edu.

Access the myRutgers Dashboard at my.rutgers.edu to complete all the required Enrollment Pathway steps.

Financial Aid Reminder

December 1 was the priority filing date, so you should act quickly if you have not yet applied. Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application (NJAFAA).

Receive financial aid notification in mid-February–May.

Financial aid award letters will be available online starting in mid-February for all admitted students who submitted a FAFSA by December 1. Admitted students who applied for financial aid after December 1 will receive their financial aid notification within two weeks of their offer of admission, but no earlier than mid-February. Check for missing documents or view your financial aid award letter.

Look for scholarship notification in mid-February–May. Only those selected are notified. No separate application is required. Learn more about scholarships.
Fall Enrollment Financial Aid Deadlines:
- June 1 – Complete and submit the Admissions Application and the FAFSA or NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application.
- August 1 – Complete all financial aid requirements/requests for documentation.

Placement Tests

Reminder: Accept Your Enrollment
- Accept your admission to Rutgers–Newark through the Application Portal by June 1.
On-Campus Housing
- Apply for on-campus housing no later than June 7.
Financial Aid: RU-N to the TOP
- Learn more about Rutgers University–Newark Talent and Opportunity Pathways (RU-N to the TOP) financial aid program, including deadlines for fall enrollment. (Eligibility requirements must be met.)
- June 1 All students – Complete and submit the Admissions Application and the FAFSA or the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application.
Submit Immunization Records
- Prior to the start of your first term at Rutgers–Newark, you are required to submit a Pre-Entrance Health Record Form showing proof of vaccinations. Submit your immunization health records.
- Note: Enrolled students are required to upload their COVID-19 vaccination records on the Rutgers Student Immunization portal. Your Rutgers NetID and password are required. Visit coronavirus.rutgers.edu for more information on the university's COVID-19 policy.

Submit your final official transcripts/certificates (first-year students only) by July 1.

Your final records must include certification of any diplomas or degrees and final grades for courses in progress at the time of your admission. These documents must be mailed in a sealed envelope to:

I-20
- Obtain your I-20, pay your SEVIS I-901 fee, and apply for a visa between March–July.
- After receiving your I-20 from Rutgers, pay your SEVIS I-901 fee at fmjfee.com and apply for your visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate. The fee may be waived for current visa holders. Visit ice.gov/sevis/i901/faq for more information.
Orientation
- Register for International Student Orientation at myRutgers Dashboard from March–late August.
- International Student Orientation is a week-long introduction to Rutgers held in August that includes shopping trips and visits to New York City and Philadelphia.

- Accept our offer of admission by May 1 through the Rutgers Application Portal.
Academic Advising
- Attend an academic advising program available from May–August.
- Meet with advisers and obtain assistance in selecting appropriate courses.
- Academic advising is also offered to students during International Student Orientation. Find more information at admissions.rutgers.edu/pathway.
Credit Evaluation: Transfer Students Only
- Receive your credit evaluation
- May–August
- All transfer students who have accepted our offer of admission will receive a credit evaluation by the appropriate academic dean’s office.
- New Jersey community college students should visit njtransfer.org to view the transferability of courses.
