Rutgers uses the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to create your financial aid package. The types of financial aid available to you are based on your qualifications, financial need, and the funds available to the university.

Rutgers University–Camden is committed to making your education affordable and accessible. Students experiencing financial hardship for any reason can follow these steps:

  1. Email our Financial Aid Counselors at Please include your full name and RUID number.
  2. Chat with a Financial Aid Counselor on the Admissions homepage. We'll be there Monday through Friday 8:30AM-4:00PM. Be sure to click "Chat with me" under the Financial Aid office to send your message to us.
  3. Borrow your Federal Direct Loans for this academic year.
  4. Review your Financial Aid status.

To become eligible for financial aid, the first step is to apply by filling out the FAFSA. Candidates who file the FAFSA will be considered for all funds for which they are eligible. After Rutgers priority filing dates, funds will be awarded on an as-availailable basis.

Please note that international students (F-1 or J-1 visa holders) are not eligible by law for need-based financial aid.

Steps to Apply for Financial Aid


Create a federal student aid ID (FSA ID).

You and your parent must each apply for an FSA ID. If you are considered an independent student or age 25 or older, you do not need a parent or guardian to sign the FAFSA.

Fill out the FAFSA.
