Qualifying undergraduate and graduate students may be offered financial aid packages that are a combination of various types of aid:
- Scholarships
- Awards
- Bridging the Gap
- Grants
- Loans
- Work-Study
Gift Aid
Scholarships, awards, and grants are gift aid, and do not need to be paid back.
Scholarships and awards recognize academic merit.
Grants and programs such as Bridging the Gap or EOF recognize financial need.
Loans
Loans must be repaid and can come from federal, state, and university sources as well as private lenders. Loan repayment usually begins after graduation.
Work-Study
The Federal Work-Study program allows students to earn money for college expenses while gaining valuable skills. Work-study jobs are part-time and available on- or off-campus.
