About Student-Proposed

Rutgers University–Camden gives students the power and the freedom to study what they want through the individualized major path! With the approval of the faculty, a student may elect an interdisciplinary major for either the B.A. or B.S. degree, rather than pursuing the traditional curriculum. The major must consist of at least 48 credits, at least 15 credits of which must be chosen within one department at the 300 level or above.

A rationale for the individualized major along with two itemized lists, one of all courses completed, and one of those courses now being taken and yet to be taken, should accompany the request to the Academic Policy and Courses of Study Committee. This process allows the student the freedom to pursue a major tailored almost entirely by the student!
